MAD HATTERS TEA PARTY

So I was comissioned by a friend to make some goodies for her Mad Hatters Tea Party roombox and as most of you know, I LOVE a challenge, however this one has proven a little more difficult than I thought. My first attempt was the green cake seen in the movie, which I made last night. Here is what it is suppose to look like...

And here is what mine looks like. I couldn't quite figure out the flowers,
but other than that it's not too bad for a first try.

Nice job! And good for you to take on a challenge! This is a cake I thought about trying myself but haven't yet. Right now there is a black forest torte in it's place but perhaps in time.

I'd guess the swirls are the most difficult to get right. Have you thought about making them out of uber-thin "snakes" of white polymer clay and then applying to the cake using the liquid clay? That is what I think I would try....

You did a great job, as usual, the cakes looks like the real thing. Have you thought of using silk or paper flowers, that's what the original picture reminds me of. Keep up the good work.

Thank you Diane! I did indeed think of paper flowers as I have seen them before, but I have never made any and wouldn't know how. I work wonderfully with clay but tend to have adifficult time with other materials as I have never tried to work them before. Have you ever made paper or silk flowers before?

Wow this is amazing...love both of the cakes. I hope we get to see it all in place...that is the most fun with commissions for a special scene I think.

I am the opposite of you...can work with paper but give me clay and I mess it up lol. Guess we all have our strengths :-)
